Who we are

We are a group of young engineers with expertise in photonics and signal processing for communications and sensing applications. We come from academia with long experience in R&D activities. Since 2010, we have secured a total of 3.6 million Euro for our organizations, and have contributed with disruptive ideas, development efforts and technical management responsibilities to achieving ambitious objectives within a number of European (FP7 and H2020) research projects. Since 2016, we are with Optagon Photonics with the ambition to downstream our expertise to the market and establish our company as a high-tech SME in the photonics sector.

Directors

Christos Kouloumentas obtained his PhD from the National Technical University of Athens in 2010. He has been actively involved in a number of R&D actions in photonic integration, biophotonics and optical communications having leading technical positions. Since October 2017, he serves as a substitute management committee member of the COST action 16220 on integrated microwave photonics, and since January 2018 as the technical manager of the H2020 project ICT-3PEAT. Christos is a chartered Electrical & Computer Engineer and a member of IEEE with more than 110 publications in scientific journals and conferences.


Panos Groumas obtained his PhD from the National Technical University of Athens. Since 2010 he has been actively involved in a number of ambitious R&D actions in the areas of photonic integration, biophotonics and optical communications, creating innovation and turning ideas into pre-commercial prototypes. Since 2021 he serves as the technical manager of the H2020 project ICT-POETICS. Panos is a member of IEEE and has more than 50 publications in scientific journals and conferences.
